What's on at The Globe

roomthirteen & Last Race Home - Friday 27th April

roomthirteen are Brian Mitchell vocals and acoustic guitar, Andy Goddard vocals and keyboards, Gary Hulston guitar, Keith Darbyshire bass guitar and Mark Fitton on drums.
The band were originally formed in 2003 as a three piece, with Brian Mitchell and John Done on guitar/ vocals joined by Phil Stock on mandolin/slide guitar.

With limited success and feeling the need to produce a bigger and fuller sound, Phil Stock was replaced by former Crispy Ambulance bassist, Keith Darbyshire former Candidates keyboard player, Andy Goddard and Craig Winston  on drums.
In 2009, the band released the critically acclaimed, "easterlin paradox" , which received glowing reviews far and wide, and tracks from the album have been aired on Radio 2, Radio Manchester, Manchester Radio Online, FAB radio, BBC Radio Lancashire and Tameside Radio, to name but a few.

The band continued gigging regularly until  John developed a chronic back condition which required major surgery in 2014 and live performances were curtailed as a result. There were plans to record another album but fate dealt John Done and his doting family a crushing blow in 2016.
Having felt unwell for a while, John was diagnosed with liver cancer in the May of this year and tragically passed away in September 2016.

It is difficult to sum up in words just how devastating an impact this tragic loss had on his nearest and dearest, his family, close friends and  many admirers on the local music scene, but the packed church in Old Glossop, as he was laid to rest, was testimony to a life well lived and loved dearly.
How could life without John ever be the same again?

After much soul searching and deliberation, the band decided to carry on, all unanimous in agreement that it was what John would have wanted.
They recruited  Gary Hulston, a  guitarist who had played with both Brian and John in their previous band, Yootha Joyce.

The boys have gone from strength to strength over the last year and are in a good place, artistically, creatively and musically, with recent gigs proving a huge success.
There is another album on the horizon, exciting plans are being made and the future is rosy for roomthirteen, who are unashamedly, and by their own admission, a pop band.
Come along on April 27th and make your own mind up.

Blast Lane are a Blues Rock band from The Steel City. Drawing on superb writing and song crafting talent between all 3 members, Blast Lane deliver modern blues that is both creative and original packed with plenty of hooks and grooves. Currently gigging around South Yorkshire and Derbyshire with some exciting upcoming dates at Sheffield's Tramlines festival the band is a must see live. Their album "Adventures in Modern Blues" will be released later this year, a fantastic collection of original music featuring the soaring guitar lines and crunching riffs of Chillo Angelini, Allen Walton's weighty bass lines and Steve Crewe's drum grooves. The album is proving to be an excellent debut from a very fine band.

Silent Victory are the melodic hard rock band from the north-west UK. After 6 years of hard work and an endless gigging the band released their debut album in June 2010. Titled “No Sacred Ground” after the bands motto. It’s crammed with 11 stunning tracks, encompassing a wide variety of influences and styles. A wining mixture of rock, blues, metal and prog with great melodies throughout. Needless to say, it has earned superb reviews everywhere!

The band has had some line-up changes since the album’s release, but they now have a full line up again and are stronger than ever! Work is now well underway on writing their second album, which promises to stretch the boundaries again!

Abandcalledjack Saturday 12th May

Abandcalledjack originate from Manchester and play melodic indie folk rock music. Drawing upon different influences from each member this culminates in a melodic sound which allows songs to be performed both as a full electric set and also as a more laid back acoustic set.

The band have played all around Manchester and various festivals all over the country. Following a support slot with the post punk new wave legends The Chameleons on their sell out gigs the band went on to open up for Paulo Nutini at Castlefield Bowl in front of 8,000 people for The Summer in the City Festival and were very well received. Since then they have also supported Big Country at Manchester Academy.

The band have now signed to record label MST Sounds and is currently in the studio recording a new album.

The Pearl Divers & Deadlights Saturday 28th April

Pearl Divers is a 6 piece band from Salford, Manchester. We play a fairly diverse mix of music combining male and female lead vocals. The principle writer Carl Lingard, writes in many kinds of styles, from Indie, Pop/Jazz, Latin, football anthems, to Bond themes. Strong melodies and interesting harmonies always feature. The music drives the band. We don't market oursleves as anything other than a band led which way by the creative inspirations. We dive for pearls, and one never quite knows what we'll come back with.
This is the second generation of the band. The first one began back in 2010 and was awarded best new band by Salford City Radio. This second line up promises to be every bit as good. The band have been together about 12 months and are just beginning to emerge from rehearsals and start gigging.

Mad Haven Saturday 21st April

Mad Haven are an original material classic rock band bassed in North Wales. Since forming the band in mid 2011, they have played at many different music venues, biker rallies and music festivals. Some of these venues include The 02 Academy and The Corporation both in Sheffield, MFN in Nottingham, Bootleggers in Kendal, The Live Rooms in Chester and various other rock venues.
The band have supported lots of different bands including Warrior Soul, Toseland, Bonafide, Bad Touch, The Kut, North Of The Fall, Four Wheel Drive (City Of Thieves) and AC DC UK just to name a few.
