History of The Globe
The Globe was built in 1833 in what was then called Green Vale, alongside Glossop Brook. This still forms a wildlife corridor for dippers, wagtails, heron and brown trout (No fishing!). The main stable block was lost to fire long ago, but the remaining stable has been transformed into The Globe Brewery with Toby Brookes in charge.Music has always thrived here - starting in 1999 local enthusiasts formed "The Lift Global Music Club", staging countless superb musicians from almost every continent
Jennings Brewery owned The Globe at the time, and after the B.S.E outbreak they put many of their pubs on the market. This wonderful venue was almost lost until Ron Brookes bought it at auction in London. Diana Virgo became the licensee in 2002 and she and Ron had been running it ever since, until Ron's grandchildren, Toby and Danny took over in 2019 to continue the Globe's legacy to this day.
